Virginia Haines is an active artist living
in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She has her studio and gallery in her home and
also displays paintings at the Hill Country Art Gallery east of Mountain
Home. Her favorite subjects are landscapes of local scenes and surrounding
area with Ozark Mountain scenery. She also enjoys painting portraits and
animals in oils, watercolors, casein, or pastels. She accepts and paints many
special commissions.
Haines is mainly a self-taught artist, but
has traveled throughout the United States with opportunities to study at the
Springfield Massachusetts Museum of Art, the Dayton (ohio) Institute of Arts,
Shreveport Art Center in Louisiana, and many workshops with well-known artists
such as Frank Webb, Judy Betts, and latest workshops in Arkansas were advanced
watercolor studies with Tony Couch, Ken Hosmer, Richard Stephens, and
additional studies in oil painting techniques under master artist, John
Pototschnik.
Inspiration and motivation to draw and paint
as held a constant thought process and need to create since very young.
Haines continues to create, sketch, and produce paintings from subject matter
that sparks her interest and imagination. She refers to painting as her
"release without boundaries"...a challenging time outdoor experience or quiet
time within her studio where she spends many hours working out some magical
imagery and produce a new, exciting 'happy experience'. Natural surroundings
provide groundwork for capturing a group of shapes or fleeting light effects
that inspire ideas and impact for successful results.
Haines joins watercolor societies to benefit
from the sharing of ideas and inspiration from other artists. Each year, she
submits digital images to be juried into art competitions within these
groups. She is a member of the Mid-Southern Watercolor Society (MSW); Artists
of Northwest Arkansas (ANWA); the Transparent Watercolor Society of America;
and the NorthEast Watercolor Society (NEWS).
Virginia instructs watercolor and oil
painting workshops at the Hill Country Art Gallery-Mountain Home in the Fall,
Winter and Spring for students interested in beginning, intermediate, or
advanced courses. Inquire by email:
